Privacy Policy
Effective Date: September 10, 2026
MonthFund (“MonthFund,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the website www.monthfund.com and the MonthFund application (collectively, the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use our Service, including organization workspaces and personal (solo) fundraiser accounts.
By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Information We Collect
Account information. When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and optionally a profile photo and short biography. Organization administrators provide organization name, branding, and related details. Personal account owners sign up as individuals; we associate your account with a personal workspace (including a public page URL).
Payment information. Donations and payouts are processed by Stripe. We do not store full credit card numbers on our servers. When you connect Stripe (including Stripe Connect Express for personal accounts), Stripe collects identity and banking information under the Stripe Privacy Policy.
Donation and campaign data. We collect information about campaigns, claimed calendar days, donation amounts, donor names (and optional photos when enabled), and fundraiser activity to operate the Service.
Optional donor photos. If you add a photo when donating, we may display it on public calendars when you opt in and the feature is enabled. You can update or remove your photo from the donor portal where available.
Communications. If you opt in to SMS or marketing email, we collect your phone number and/or email. See our SMS Terms.
Usage data. We collect browser type, device information, pages viewed, and timestamps so we can keep the Service working and see where people get stuck. We do not sell this information, and we do not sell donor or organizer lists. When PostHog is configured, we load product analytics and a masked replay of the screen. Replay hides names, amounts, and anything typed in a form before that data leaves the browser. We use it to fix confusing steps, not to build advertising profiles.
Roles. For account, billing contact, and site analytics data, MonthFund decides how that data is processed. For donor lists, campaign content, and other records an organization or personal fundraiser uploads or collects through a campaign, that organizer directs the processing. We handle that campaign data to operate the Service they asked us to provide.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use information to:
- Operate, maintain, and improve the Service for organization and personal workspaces
- Process donations and platform fees through Stripe
- Send transactional messages (receipts, account notices, campaign updates)
- Send promotional emails if you have opted in
- Provide support and detect fraud or abuse (including on personal accounts)
- Comply with legal obligations
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:
- Stripe — payment processing and Connect onboarding
- Service providers. Hosting, analytics, error monitoring, email, and SMS delivery. The current list is on our Subprocessors page.
- Organization administrators and fundraisers — campaign participants may see donor names, amounts, and claimed days on public or admin views
- Public calendars — personal and organization fundraising pages may display supporter names and amounts consistent with product settings
- Legal requirements — when required by law or to protect rights and safety
4. Cookies and Tracking
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in. When configured, we also load Google Analytics 4, PostHog, the Meta Pixel, and Rollbar for error monitoring. Rollbar may record a short session replay around an error, with form fields masked. Details, including the fact that we do not currently block those scripts behind a preference banner, are on our Cookies page. You can control cookies in your browser. Some features may not work if essential cookies are disabled.
5. SMS and Text Messaging
With consent, we send transactional SMS for account and campaign updates. Reply STOP to opt out. See our SMS Terms & Conditions.
6. Data Retention
We retain information while your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. After deletion requests, we delete or anonymize data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required for legal or financial record-keeping (including donation records).
7. Data Security
We use TLS in transit and access controls on dashboard and admin routes. See our Security page. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure.
8. Children and school campaigns
You must be at least 18 (or the age of majority where you live) to create a MonthFund account. The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Contact us if you believe we have collected such data.
School, PTA, and youth-program campaigns are set up by adult organizers. An organizer may invite participants and publish first names on a public calendar. Organizers are responsible for who they invite and for any student information they enter. MonthFund is fundraising software, not a student information system. Do not upload education records that a campaign does not need. We do not claim FERPA school-official status unless a school has a written agreement that says so.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your data, or to object to certain processing. Contact hello@monthfund.com.
10. California Residents
California residents may request information about collection and deletion. We do not sell personal information for money. When the Meta Pixel is configured, advertising cookies may be treated as a “share” under California law. Email hello@monthfund.com to request access, deletion, or to opt out of advertising cookies. We do not currently honor Global Privacy Control in product.
11. Third-Party Links
Third-party sites have their own privacy practices. We are not responsible for those practices.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy by posting a new version with an updated effective date. Material changes may be communicated by email or in-product notice.
